Electives & Interdisciplinary Studies

What is AIA Electives & Interdisciplinary Studies?

AIA Electives & Interdisciplinary Studies courses are U.S. high school-aligned programs designed for Grades 6–12 students to explore personal interests, build career skills, and supplement core academic coursework. These courses count toward U.S. high school graduation requirements, carry GPA credits, and are ideal for customizing student learning paths.

Students typically begin in Grade 9, choosing from a wide range of electives including Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Digital Citizenship, Criminology, Philosophy, Social Media, and Marine Biology. Courses are structured to explore real-world skills and interdisciplinary topics, adapted for AIA’s global student community.

PROGRESSION

Elective courses progress to undergraduate business, entrepreneurship, digital media, and interdisciplinary programs. Course credits count toward U.S. high school graduation requirements, and strengthen college applications by demonstrating unique student interests and career readiness.

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

Electives are available as full-time or part-time options, with flexible enrollment for AIA students. Students may combine multiple electives with core academic/AP courses, and customize their learning path to align with college major and career goals.

EXAM

Most elective courses are internally assessed through project-based work, essays, and presentations, with no external standardized exam. Assessment is aligned with U.S. high school standards, with grades counting toward cumulative GPA. Select AP electives (e.g., AP Microeconomics) follow AP exam structures, with external assessment annually in May.

BASIS OF WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN ELECTIVES
